Seeds and Seedlings

The garden is now fully planted!  Throughout this week we’ve been planting a little every day, and the weather has been perfect for it.

The full list of what we’re planting this year: spinach, eggplant, 3 kinds of peppers, 3 kinds of tomatoes, two kinds of peas, kale, 2 kinds of lettuce, beets, 2 kinds of carrots, broccoli, onion, garlic, cucumbers, zucchini, cabbage, and ground cherries.  Out front instead of flowers this year we are doing herbs: mint, basil, chives, oregano, cilantro, and dill.  And of coarse we also anticipate the return of the wild grapes that vine over the back fence.

We enjoyed a very pleasant mother’s day weekend up by Lake Elmo, camping and attending the Shepherd’s Harvest Festival.  I finished my last two classes for the semester, and already have homework for my practicum that starts next week.  We went to pizza at Dream Acres the last two Fridays; there is also a new winery open nearby so we stopped in for a sip there.  We are planning to kick it country style at a barn dance down in Lanesboro tonight.

Soaking up the early summer in every way we can.
