I’m back to blogging! Although my spring semester is not quite finished yet, today seemed like the perfect day to start the blog back up because today we got the ground tilled for Summer Garden 2012! Bigger and better!
As you can see, I still take crooked, underexposed photos! Above is Trevor in the newly tilled space, about triple the size of last year’s garden. The other photo is the seedlings we’ve been nurturing inside in preparation for better weather. You can tell we are WAY more prepared and informed this year. Trevor has charts and lists and everything. They are color coded.
The other fantastic thing about this year’s garden is we are doing it in cooperation with our new TOTALLY AWESOME neighbors. We sat down with them, some wine, and the Seed Savers catalog back in February, and made lists and dreams of our vegetable aspirations. Number one priority for this year (after the actual gardening bit): learn how to can. Completely equally ranked priority (alongside the gardening bit): sit in the backyard, grill some grass fed beef, watch the kids run through the sprinkler.
This will all be happening as I continue my job at the library downtown, as well as do a practicum at a small library about 1/2 hour north of us. And hopefully get some camping trips in on the weekends. And of coarse eat pizza at Dream Acres- starting about 2 hours from now.
I leave you with true sign of spring…baby robins hatched in our garage.
