The saga of the parking parameters continues, as today there were two huge trash cans in front of the neighbor’s house with “No Parking” signs taped to them. Trevor started plotting how he was going to parallel park between them, but then someone drove up in an RV and they moved the trash cans aside to make room for the RV. We’re not sure if they have visitors, or if they just bought this RV, but it’s certainly adding to the number of large vehicles on our block. The new neighbors on the other side of us have two cars, a big boat, and a tow truck…so collectively we are pretty much spreading our possessions all up and down the block.
It’s harvest time in the garden, as Aubrey so gleefully displays here:
The wild grapes are a bit sour, but pretty tasty. The kale is as big as a bush, so we are stir frying and baking it almost every day. We are still waiting for the tomatoes to ripen, but they’re coming in little by little. The sunflowers are very tall but have yet to blossom. We’ve also been getting lots of beautiful produce from our farm subscription and the farmer’s market, so stir fry and cobblers have abounded.
The yarn business is still slowly growing. We have found a new supplier who lives closer and has cheaper wool, although it’s a little more coarse than the stuff Trevor was previously spinning with. Trevor actually had the opportunity to spin at an art market downtown last week, where he met many interested people and might have lined up some opportunities to give lessons. He even went to a spinning circle last night that consisted entirely of middle aged women (besides himself), and he had a fantastic time.
The next few weeks are full of end-of-summer activities- camping, small road trips, weddings, and birthdays. We actually just got back from a weekend in Duluth, and came to realize the Hwy 61 is the most beautiful, scenic highway in the state and is our new favorite alternate route. If you find yourself travelling northward or southward, we highly recommend you give it a try.
