Fairs and fun times

We have something really beautiful to share with you.

This is a video blog post done by a friend of ours of Trevor spinning.  It was such a fun experience discussing the process with the photographer, as well as our many other happy living concepts.

These days we’ve delved into the most popular of summer activities- fairs and festivals.  I have eaten bratworst for the last three lunches.  I have seen Trevor blow perfectly good money on winning a neon orange stuffed pig for Aubrey by popping balloons with darts.   I have seen displays of yodeling and peeked at the inside of wind turbines.  I have pet baby ducks, chicks, piglets, calves, goats, sheep, deer, llamas, and even a zebra.  I have even submitted entries to win free prizes, knowing full well that it will only result in more junk mail.  And this is only the beginning- Renaissance Festival and Minnesota State Fair are yet to come in about a month.

I’ve also had the opportunity to build up some of my new and old friendships through play dates, movie nights, and dinners at local restaurants.  This has felt like a very welcome blessing after a few weeks of despairing over the lack of community in my life.  I am also feeling more and more thankful for the opportunity to start the spinning business with Trevor.  It has opened up many conversations and connections with people (especially at fairs) and only promises to open up even more.  I am very proud of some beautiful business cards that I designed and printed myself; if you’re interested in having a few to hand out to friends, let me know and I’ll send some your way.

August begins tomorrow and the calendar is already filled up with all sorts of fun plans and activities (as well as appointments, but those also feel like accomplishments).   We have some new neighbors in the other half of our duplex, and we’re hoping to be welcoming towards them.  There is also a block party planned for Tuesday evening, so it will be nice to meet a few more of my neighbors.  All this newness makes me oscillate between fear and excitement, but I am reassured in knowing I’ve been here before and things usually turn out really well.
